Coffey Hired as Chief Nursing Officer

Doug Coffey, MSN, RN has accepted the position of Chief Nursing Officer at Creighton University Medical Center.

As Chief Nursing Officer, Coffey will be responsible for developing processes, systems and people to ensure high-quality nursing care and ongoing compliance with the Joint Commission.

Coffey, who most recently held the position of Director of Patient Services, has held various management positions within Creighton University Medical Center. Since 1999, Coffey has served as Director of Medical/Surgical and Maternal/Child Services and Director of Nursing Administration and Operations.

Prior to joining Creighton University Medical Center, Coffey managed various clinical, quality and support function at Alegent Health System, St. Joseph Center for Mental Health and Bergan Mercy Medical Center.

A Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve Nurse Corps, Coffey served 15 months on Active Duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom after September 11, 2001.

Coffey earned an Associate of Science in Nursing , Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is also a member of the Gamma Pi chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
