Linda Ollis, CEO of Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC), today announced the appointment of Michael T. Johnson, FACHE, as Chief Operating Officer at CUMC.
With nearly 20 years in health care management, Johnson brings with him experience in developing hospital services, coordinating state and federal advocacy initiatives, and overseeing hospital development plans. Most recently, Johnson served as the Administrator and CEO of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi and as a System Vice President of CHRISTUS Spohn Health System, a region of CHRISTUS Health in Corpus Christi, Texas.
In his role as COO at CUMC, Johnson is primarily responsible for overseeing daily hospital and clinical operations and managing Commitment to Quality (C2Q) initiatives.
“Michael has a strong record of achievement coupled with a talent to motivate others,” says Ollis. “He will help us continue to meet our objectives of providing high-quality patient care and achieving excellence in all areas of hospital operations. I’m excited to have Michael’s leadership, experience and expertise on my executive team.”
While at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi, Johnson was responsible for a progressive hospital with more than 700 full-time employees and involved in the executive oversight of six hospitals with more than 5,400 full-time employees. Before joining CHRISTUS, Johnson served as Vice President of Covenant Health System in Lubbock, Texas.
Johnson earned a Master of Public Administration, Health Organization Management from Texas Tech University, an Associates Degree in Science (Nursing) from the University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas Tech University.
Johnson is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives and has served on its Regional Advisory Board. A registered nurse certified in geriatrics by the American Nursing Credentialing Center, Johnson is also a Certified Nursing Facility Administrator and Certified Assisted Living Center Administrator by the American College of Healthcare Administrators. Johnson has also served in leadership roles for the United Way, the American Heart Society and the American Cancer Society. |
