Creighton University Medical Center is home to one of the busiest emergency departments in the state, treating an average of 31,000 patients every year. The Trauma Center/Emergency Department is staffed by a specialized team that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It includes an Emergency physician, Trauma Surgery specialist, Orthopedic Surgery specialist, Anesthesiologist, Critical-Care nursing team, operating room team and radiology and laboratory staff.
Our adult Intensive Care Unit features a 25-bed tertiary-care Intensive Care Unit under the direction of a Critical Care Intensivist team that is experienced in caring for complex trauma cases. Available around the clock and on weekends, the team includes critical-care nurses, a respiratory therapist, occupational and physical therapists, dieticians and pharmacists.
As one of the region’s most respected academic medical centers, Creighton University Medical Center physicians and nurses not only treat patients, they also conduct leading-edge medical research while training and mentoring the next generation of health care professionals. Trauma Educational Services are available for training purposes. They include EMS, physician and nursing education; EMS-run reviews; trauma and medical case reviews; and prevention programs for staff and community.
