History of the Hospital
Creighton University Medical Center first opened its doors September 25, 1870, when Omaha itself was only 14 years old and little more than a frontier town. In the dedicated and devoted hands of the Sisters of Mercy and ten years later, the Sisters of Saint Francis, our hospital established a mission of strong Catholic values and traditions which have been handed down from generation to generation and continue today.
As you walk through our doors today you find an efficient, yet warm environment, a full tertiary care facility, licensed for 334 beds. We work with Creighton University School of Medicine and Creighton Medical Associates.
We are fully accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organization and licensed by the state of Nebraska to provide medical services for Medicaid and Medicare patients.
