The head and neck cancer team at Creighton University Medical Center, led by Dr. Thomas Dobleman, offers a highly specialized, multi-disciplinary approach to treatment of head and neck cancer. Our team of expert surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, endocrinologists, dentists, pathologists, and speech and swallowing therapists work together to provide some of the latest technology and treatment options.
Head and neck cancers are identified by the area they begin. These areas include:
- Oral cavity
- Salivary glands
- Paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity
- Skin
- Lymph nodes
- Pharynx
- Larynx
- Thyroid
Our Approach
The head and neck cancer team at Creighton University Medical Center understands cancer care is more than tests, surgery, and drug therapy. Our multidisciplinary team was created to meet all aspects of our patient’s needs and to treat issues our patients may encounter during treatment, including:
- Difficulty with speech and swallowing
- Changes in appearance due to surgery and treatment - leading to subsequent reconstructive surgery needs
- Emotional and physical needs of both the patient and their family and the disease’s impact on quality of life
Our Commitment to Education
Head and neck cancer affects the lives of more than 80,000 Americans each year, with an additional 400,000 who develop skin cancer in the head and neck area. Cancers of the head and neck are not easily detected, and the team at Creighton University Medical Center is dedicated to early detection education throughout the community. Our program focuses on all aspects of head and neck cancers, including research and cure, clinical trials, free screenings, educational outreach, treatment, and recovery services.
