The Creighton Cardiac Center
The Creighton Cardiac Center, affiliated with Creighton University Medical Center, is one of the region's only freestanding facilities dedicated to diagnosis and treatment, risk modification, and cardiovascular research and education.
As members of an academic medical center, The Cardiac Center cardiologists educate and mentor future cardiologists while engaging in breakthrough research. For patients, this translates into the advantages of immediate second opinions and educational conferences at which patient conditions are discussed thoroughly and confidentially.
Cardiac Center Facts
The Cardiac Center was one of the first facilities in Omaha to:
- Offer radial heart catheterizations and interventions (balloon angioplasty and stents)
- Implant a single device that contained both a pacemaker and defibrillator
- Insert stents in coronary arteries
- Utilize a computer-assisted arrhythmia monitoring system
- Introduce new drug-based methods of diagnosis and treatment
Clinical Trials
The Cardiac Center is continuously involved in both pharmaceutical and device clinical trials, making some of the latest advances available to patients when traditional care is not successful. Trials are typically available for certain patients with diseases such as congestive heart failure, hypertension, heart attack, coronary artery disease and others.
Cardiac Rehab
The cardiovascular rehabilitation facility features an elevated walking/jogging track and a large, monitored exercise area. Prevention services include nutrition education, stress management, cooking classes, weight management, smoking cessation and exercise.
