Endovascular Surgery
Endovascular surgery – operating from inside the blood vessel – is performed through tiny holes, rather than through large external incisions. When done so, procedures can often result in smaller scars, less pain and faster recovery times than traditional open methods. The following includes a sample of vascular procedures that can be performed by less-invasive endovascular methods:
- Carotid artery stenting
- Peripheral artery balloon-angioplasty and stenting (including renal, iliac, and femoral artery interventions )
- Stent-grafts for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) and thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAAs)
- Hybrid endovascular repair aortic arch and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm
- Endovascular repair of aortic dissection, aortic ulcer and aortic transection
