At the Center for Breast Care, all our physician specialists, nurses and technologists are available for you in one place. This means you shouldn’t have to make multiple trips to multiple appointments on multiple days.
In addition, our physicians are on the faculty of the renowned Creighton University School of Medicine, where they may lead or participate in clinical trials. This means, as a patient, you may have early access to new and innovative treatments, some of which may not be available at other hospitals.
Finally, we take a carefully balanced approach to patient care, clinical research and innovative programs that emphasize your quality of life. So, in addition to our team of skilled specialists, we provide you and your family with access to a comprehensive support staff, including social services, comprehensive care management, cancer counseling needs, patient education and an experienced nursing team.
Diagnosis
We employ many diagnostic methods, including:
- Mammography
- Focused ultra-sonography
- MRI
- Fine-needle biopsy
- Stereotactic vacuum assisted core biopsies
- MRI guided core biopsy
- Breast physical examinations
In addition, the Hereditary Breast Cancer Team (medical geneticists, molecular biologists and genetic counselors) at the Center can determine your risk for developing breast cancer before it ever happens, based on family history, genetic testing and other factors.
Second Opinion Consultations
Second opinions should be considered for anyone with a potential diagnosis of breast cancer. This allows time to obtain accurate information without the sometimes inappropriate rush to surgery often seen immediately following initial diagnosis.
