At Creighton University Medical Center Orthopedic Surgery includes surgeons who provide care for patients with a wide range of needs including trauma, sports medicine, spinal, adult reconstructive surgery, orthopedic oncology and pediatric orthopedic surgery. By combining experience with state-of-the-art technology, we routinely perform simple and complex joint replacement and reconstruction procedures in addition to cases requiring revisions. Our team of physicians, orthopedic nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists are dedicated to helping patients recover to the highest degree after an orthopedic injury or disease. As an integral part of the region’s busiest trauma centers, our surgeons are skilled in expert fracture and injury management.
The strengths of our Orthopedic Surgery Division begin with the Division Chief, Dr. Michael McGuire, who specializes in trauma and tumor work in ortho-oncology, which is mostly referred from other orthopedic surgeons. He applies the principles of genetic basis of cancer of these procedures and works closely with the Creighton Cancer Center for follow-up patient care. In the past year, we hired two experienced surgeons. Dr. Thomas Connolly specializes in sports medicine and shoulder and knee reconstruction. He joined Creighton from private practice in Columbus, Nebraska and is now one of five team physicians for Creighton University athletics who sees players on the volleyball, golf and tennis teams. Dr. Todd Sekundiak is experienced in joint replacement and revision cases, which are referred from other orthopedic surgeons.
